    Conference Description

    The Safety Services Manitoba Occupational Health & Safety Conference brings together 600 delegates who play a role in health and safety in Manitoba and beyond. Participants come to connect, share ideas and learn with fellow safety leaders.

    Submission Guidelines

    A workshop consists of a 75-minute breakout session, or a two-part session of two 75-minute presentations.  Alternative presentation methods are encouraged to engage the audience.  Handouts, videos, audience engagement technology,  table group discussions, etc are encouraged. Presentations must be informative and educational and the time cannot be used to promote a product, service or company.

    Our Delegates

    All the delegates are active within health and safety at their workplace.  The largest percentage of attendees sit on Health & Safety committees within their workplace.  Balance of delegates are Health & Safety professionals, Operations, HR professionals, Supervisors, etc.

    Delegates come from a wide range of industry from all level of government and crowns, manufacturing, processing, school divisions, construction, transportation and storage, and service.

    Who should submit?

    Submissions are welcome on topics in safety, health and wellness.  Speakers should demonstrate knowledge of, and experience in, their submitted topic.  Preference will be given to speakers with prior public speaking experience.  This submission process is for workshops only.  Keynotes please do not apply here.

    Workshop streams

    The three streams for this conference are Health & Wellness; Safety 101; and Safety Leadership.

    Submission format

    Submissions may be made by filling in this online form or may be sent via email to azubricki@safetyservicesmanitoba.ca. If the latter, please submit following these guidelines:

    • Double spaced, max. 500 words
    • Include: full contact information; abstract of your presentation and suggested title; summary of your expertise and/or a short bio; references
    • Subject line: SSM 2020 Call for Presenters


    Speaker Remuneration

    Most previous workshop speakers do presentations without any remuneration.  Travel and speaker remuneration are very limited.  Preference is given to local speakers.

    If your abstract is accepted

    You will receive one complimentary registration for the day of your presentation.


    The submission deadline is July 5, 2019. SSM will contact you if your abstract is accepted.
