    REAL safety happens when humans do what they need to do to make unsafe behaviours and conditions a thing of the past!  This entertaining look at what it takes to make our places of work and homes safe will help participants realize that unless we take this personally, no-one else is going to do it for us!   We need to become leaders in safety for ourselves and others.  The presenter will compare what leaders in their professions have told us about excellence and how to apply this way of thinking and acting to our efforts to make our lives safe from injury and illness for ourselves, our families and our co-workers

     Biography

    Alan David Quilley is the President and owner of Safety Results Ltd. in Sherwood Park, Alberta. Alan is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) who has worked in the health and safety field for over three decades.

    Alan’s safety management career includes leading occupational health and safety efforts in the municipal, transportation and healthcare sectors. Alan’s experience as an OHS Officer for the Alberta Government rounds out his extensive experience in a variety of industry sectors including oil and gas and forestry.

    Alan’s engaging, entertaining and outspoken presentation style is extremely well received by participants in his courses and seminars. His real life experiences and stories help make safety real. His evidence-based advice and assistance helps others realize safety excellent results. His first book, The Emperor Has No Hard Hat – Achieving REAL Workplace Safety Results, outlines an Integrated Safety Management System that helps corporations, large and small, to reach for excellence. The book received honourable mention on the Globe & Mail’s list of the Best Business Books of 2006.

    Alan’s second book, Creating & Maintaining a Practical Based Safety Culture, helps corporations to make their safety management activities more practical to increase real results, making their workplaces safe and healthy places to be.

    Alan wrote his next book, How to Hold GREAT Safety Meetings – These meetings don’t suck anymore!©, in response to an overwhelming observation that a large majority of people attending safety meetings thought they “weren’t very good use of their time,” to put it mildly.

    Recently released, Alan’s latest book is More Creating and Maintaining a Practical Based Safety Culture – Turning Intention into Action©. The book explores how we turn a company’s intentions for the management of occupational health and safety into activities that can be completed by employees and management staff, creating safety excellence in the workplace.

    Alan is married to Marie and is a proud family man with five children and five grandchildren. His hobbies include performing/recording music, woodworking/carpentry and travelling to warm climates.
